Guinness for The Choices we Make

Guinness, Ah yes, one of my favorite beverages, a well poured pint of Guinness Stout.

What you ask, does Guinness have to do with The Choices we Make?

Well, it seems that they like our little title quite well! In fact, they have launched a 1:30 commercial, and the first 4 words, out of 11 total words are – The choices we make…

The complete dialog of this commercial, which is narrated, so there is no real dialog is:

The choices we make reveal the true nature of our character.

Guinness Empty Chair Commercial

With these 11 words, Guinness seems to sum up the entire character of this blog. I had not seen this advertisement prior to the launching of this blog, but wish I had because I think they have done a better job than I in expressing my thoughts. And if my readers get anything from my blog at all, I hope it is that The choices they make, do in fact reveal the true nature of their character.

Adweek featured this latest installment in their Ad of the Day series. The ad is part of the Guinness’ “Made of More” advertising campaign. Entitled “Empty Chair” Guinness shows a women bar owner who places a full pint of Guinness at an empty table day after day. Finally, closing the commercial, what we can only assume to be a brother or husband, shows up at the bar to and takes the pint of Guinness, and the entire bar toasts this member of the armed forces. You can also view this Guinness commercial on YouTube.

This piece that launched on the 4th of July 2014, poignantly illustrates that it is indeed the choices that we make in life, the choices that we make every day, the same choices that sometimes seem mundane or simply routine; and how they affect who we become, how we are perceived by others, the friends we make, and to use the armed forces example, the people we serve and even fight for.

Congratulations on this excellent advertisement Guinness – Well Done!

      Trey,
Thanks for the comment. My mind is going in a million directions, trying to figure out where to start, and how to tell the story. Even though, I will figure it out, and I sincerely hope that others benefit.
Of course, it would be great to have your help by spreading the word.
Thanks again, and please comment again with any criticisms, ideas, etc.
      Pat
